Alone on stage, a being from elsewhere constructs and deconstructs themselves before our very eyes. In Moscow, shame reigns, silence rules and the stops are endless on a road taken a thousand times. Between dream and reality, here and there, this mysterious being tries to understand the codes that dictate their existence. A long-awaited quest that leads to the frontiers of Siberia where the ground rumbles and the fog annihilates unfolds.

Papeça (2024) examines and dismantles the socialization of the body assigned female at birth through the form and codes of the Slavic folktale. Combining dance, theatre and music, Papeça is a trans initiatory journey that draws on myths and the intangible realms to explore intuition and the power of desire.

The piece for solo performer and electronics showcases an immersive soundscape crafted by Francis St-Germain. Delivered through an 8.2 multichannel system with 16 speakers and 2 subwoofers, the music goes from subtle, atmospheric soundscapes to powerful, arrhythmic techno beats.

Papeça is the second part of the Trilogie des corps éthériques (Trilogy of Etheric Bodies), a Transfuge creation co-produced with the Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui. Premiering in Montreal in 2024, the play ran at the Jean-Claude-Germain hall from January 22 to February 10.
